Michael Smith has more than 14 years experience in complex civil litigation, corporate counseling and transactions. Mr. Smith has handled bench and jury trials, mediations, arbitrations and injunctive proceedings in federal and state courts and before numerous arbitral bodies.

He is experienced in non-competition and antitrust law, trade secret litigation, intellectual property litigation, securities litigation and regulation, employment discrimination litigation and counseling, insurance coverage litigation, environmental law, aviation disaster litigation, RICO, dealer, distributor and franchise counseling and litigation, products and premises liability litigation and general commercial litigation.

Mr. Smith has also counseled clients in connection with intellectual property protection and in business formations, the sale and purchase of businesses, the issuance of securities and public company reporting requirements.

Mr. Smith is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the 3rd and 7th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, as well as in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.

Mr. Smith graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, J.D. 1992, and from the University of California at Berkeley, A.B. 1988.
